The first domestic LED TCON standard is released, and the whole chain collaborates to open up space for industry growth

From "fighting independently" to "collaborative symbiosis", China's LED display industry is ushering in a critical turning point.
On March 6, the first domestic group standard "TCON-based LED display control interface and communication protocol" was officially released during the Shenzhen ISLE 2026 exhibition. The standard was led by Beijing Jichuang North Technology Co., Ltd., Unilumin Technology joined hands with more than ten domestic core enterprises in the upstream and downstream LED industry chain to participate in the compilation, and was approved and finalized by the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association (referred to as "China Optoelectronics Association").
For the first time, the standard systematically clarified the terminology definitions, interface electrical parameters and communication protocol specifications of core components such as timing controllers, bridges, and drivers in LED display control systems based on the TCON solution, effectively breaking the long-standing technical barriers and collaboration problems in the industry.
Yao Dahu, Party branch secretary and secretary-general of the China Optical Association, said that the construction of a standard system is of great significance for improving production efficiency, ensuring product quality, promoting technological innovation, optimizing industrial structure, promoting industrial collaboration, and promoting industrial upgrading. He also called on the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain to work closely together, with innovation as the guide and standards as the guarantee, to collaboratively assist and serve the construction of a modern industrial system.
The following is the theme report content of the national economic newspaper "Economic Information Daily" sponsored by Xinhua News Agency.

"Current LEThe D display control system is like the ‘universal charger’ back in the day. It seems convenient, but in fact it brings huge troubles to the industry. " Lin Mingfeng, chairman of Unilumin Technology, said bluntly at the press conference. For a long time, my country's LED display industry has faced pain points such as fragmentation of interface standards and privatization of protocols - companies have stocked up to adapt to different systems, leading to inventory backlogs, global operations and maintenance need to prepare a variety of spare parts, and the production process is inefficient due to equipment incompatibility.
Lin Mingfeng took the promotion of Type-C interface unification on mobile terminals as an example, pointing out that unified standards will eventually benefit the entire industry. "Users hope that operations will become easier and simpler, and they do not need to rely on professionals to use them. This is an unstoppable trend. "

He revealed that Unilumin Technology has mass-produced five-in-one products that comply with the LED-TCON standard, highly integrating multiple functions and greatly simplifying the display system; "We have already used them on a large scale, proving that this road works. He called on traditional system manufacturers to embrace the new era, "shift from 'fighting individually' to 'co-creation', leaving complexity to us and simplicity to users." "

During the ISLE 2026 exhibition held at the same time, many leading companies also simultaneously disclosed the progress of LED TCON technology implementation. Zhang Jinfang, Chairman of Chipone North, said, "China is fully capable of changing from a capacity exporter to a standard exporter. "Current data shows that my country's LED display production capacity accounts for more than 80% of the world's share. However, large-size displays have previously been in decline for a long time.Using Japanese and Korean standards, leading companies such as BOE and CSOT have launched independent interface standards in recent years. The release of the unified LED TCON standard also means that domestic substitution extends from hardware manufacturing to rule formulation, and the security and autonomy of the industry chain are significantly enhanced.

The specification and application of the "unified language" of LED displays will help open up new market increments. For a long time, due to high costs and complex technology, LED large screens have been more used in industrial, commercial and high-end consumer scenarios. As consumer electronics continues to sink, the price of a 100-inch TV has fallen below 20,000 yuan, and the cost of LED displays has also dropped sharply. Consumers' demand for large-size screens is awakening.
"Our mobile phones and computers can be interconnected with multiple screens, but what about LED displays over 100 inches? Most of the time it is idle." During the discussion session at the LED TCON Group Standards Conference, Zhang Jinfang, Chairman of Chiso North, said that one thing Chiso wants to do is to connect the "last screen" to the mobile Internet so that it can generate greater business value.
"The fundamental reason why so many leading companies are willing to respond is that everyone sees the huge business opportunities in this screen in the future." Zhang Jinfang revealed that Chitron's LED TCON chip has generated important output value last year, and "the growth will be faster and faster." According to market data, the global LED display market size is expected to exceed 10 billion US dollars in 2026. At the same time, industry and informationThe Ministry of Information and Technology has clearly designated new displays (including LED) as one of the six emerging pillar industries to be cultivated and expanded during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.

Faced with huge development opportunities, the LED industry should unify technical languages and standardize interface standards as early as possible to promote technology docking and product compatibility upstream and downstream of the industry chain, so that the innovative results of different companies can seamlessly connect and empower each other, laying a solid foundation for standardization for the LED display industry to develop towards high integration, high cost performance, and high-end, and ultimately occupy a more favorable position in the global market under new trends such as Micro LED and AI+ display.

At present, many companies have prepared to launch products that meet standards, and upstream and downstream synergies are beginning to appear. In order to ensure that the standard is truly effective, the LED TCON application promotion working group was formally established at the time of release. The working group will take promoting the implementation, popularization and iteration of standards as its core goal. It plans to hold multiple seminars in 2026 to effectively open up the "last mile" of technology implementation and promote the widespread application of standards in the entire industry.
